GIOM is currently deployed in the Secaucus Data Center on
outdated hardware and executes atop old 3rd party software, posing
maintainability and stability risks §
The GIOM IR initiative will move the GIOM application to
the ITO Strategic Data Center in St. Louis, onto AT&T conformant
HW/SW with a follow-on deployment of a DR site in Charlotte (schedule being
finalized) Migration
Complexity §
(8) million plus lines of code implemented with diverse
technologies §
(140) interfacing application connections across (95)
unique interfaces. §
1 TB database conversion from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g §
Migration of (185) scheduled batch and maintenance jobs
from Solaris to Linux §
Server hardware upgrade (Sun -> IBM), operating system
migration (Solaris -> Linux & AIX), database upgrade (Oracle 10g ->
11g) and 3rd party packages migration (e.g. iPlanet -> WebSphere) §
Software component upgrades (e.g. Java (1.4 à 1.6), WebLogic (8.6 à10.3), McAfee E-business
Server (7.1 à8.1.2),
Connect Direct (3.6 à 4), MQ
Series (6 à 7)) Approach §
To mitigate the risks associated with this highly complex
migration, a three phase deployment strategy is being proposed: - Provides progressive experience with the Linux
server configuration in a production setting - Allows for an extended interval to do rigorous
regression, end-end test, UAT and performance assessment and - Enables a back-out strategy to roll-back operations
to the prior Solaris configuration, if required - Review and approval of technologies and component
configurations by AT&T architecture and IBM Software Group - Review and approval of regression ad performance
test scenarios by AT&T workcenter staff (to assure they correctly
model production usage) - Emphasis on end-end validation with all interfacing
applications , including coordinated deployment and back-out strategies - Interlock with UCT and EMAS activities (e.g.
server deployment, configuration validation, installation procedure testing) My

Solutions, Bangalore, India As
a Team Member, I am responsible for Analysis, Design, Development, Testing
and Implementation of customized solutions for new implementations and
upgrades for our IBM US client American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T). Project Details:- RM
is part of NISE application which receives requests, analyses them and
invokes various other NISE modules to perform required tasks and deliver
responses to the requests. The requests come in from ASOC, AFPS, NTAM, USRP
and EFLOW systems. The RM module runs on SDI machines. The USRP system sends
the following requests to the NISE/RM module. Pending Order Request and Final
Order Request. Pending
Order Request: The pending order request sent from USRP is received by RM
and sent across to SDI for processing. The RM module
receives the request and performs validations on the requests that include,
checking for a duplicate record, authenticating the user, validating the
transaction id. SdiRequestComp reads the response from SDI and store it in
USRPRESPONSE table.UsrpQreader reads the information from USRPRESPONSE table
and sent to USRP. The
USRP------RM and the RM------SDI interface uses the CORBA middleware for
communication. Final
Order Request: The Final Order Request also follows the same flow as
the pending order request. In both of the above transactions, RM listens to
requests through UsrpServer, which is the process that listens to the
requests coming in from USRP, it puts the order into the UsrpOrder table
database after having gone through the process described above. The OSP
library is used to interface with the database. The SdiQreader process then
picks up the record from the database UsrpOrder table populates the SDI
structure and sends it across to SDI for further processing. The
SdiRequestComp process receives the response from SDI and
stores data in the USRPResponse table. The UsrpQreader process picks the
values from the database and prepares the response for USRP. My role is as follows: §
